Nothing is Working!!!

Pin It This week has been filled with so many crazy technology problems!  I intended on showcasing more vinyl projects, but for the time being they will just have to wait.  Now that I've finally got a working computer and working modem, Rafflecopter won't work so I can't pick a winner yet.  Sorry!  Why isn't ANY technology working for me right now?!?!

DIY Vinyl Wall Decals

Pin It I am due to have my second daughter in January, so I am trying to use my second trimester (when I actually have some energy) to do as much as I can to get ready.  A few weeks ago, a friend of mine came into town for the weekend, which was the perfect opportunity to paint the new baby's room!  My hubby and I are big blue fans, so now all of our upstairs bedrooms are blue- including both of the girls' rooms.  My 2 year old daughter's room is sky blue with rainbow murals, and we decided for our next baby, regardless of gender, we were going to do an "under the sea" theme.  We finally settled on using three shades of blue on the wall getting progressively darker with each shade separated from the next with a wave border.  Here is how it turned out.

So now comes the problem of the fish.  I hand painted the rainbow murals on my other daughter's wall, but I am not confident enough painting to try to do the fish freehand.  I know that I could buy some fish wall decals, but I really wanted to try to them myself.  So this was the perfect project for the medium of the week- VINYL!

I have a Cricut cartridge called Life is a Beach which has a lot of great fish and other sea creatures.  So I cut this octopus using Cricut Craft Room (which allowed me to remove the original facial features) and I made white and black circles for the eyes.  I cut them all using vinyl and layered on the vinyl.  (Some people asked this week how I did the soccer balls on the waterbottle I made for my niece, and I did this the same way.  I just layered the black vinyl on top of the white.)  I hung it up on the wall to get an idea of what it will look like when I actually hang them up.  I've ready you should wait for paint to set for 30 days before adding vinyl decals, so I just taped this up temporarily.

What do you think?  I'm really excited about it.  I can't wait to cut more fish this week!

Want to make some vinyl decals of your own?  You have one more day to enter to win a $25 gift card to Expressions Vinyl where I purchased all my vinyl.  Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter & thanks to everyone who has entered!

Vinyl Pumpkin Bowl - $1 Craft!

I've been dealing with some technology issues this week, so I haven't been able to make all the vinyl projects I've wanted to using the Cricut and Cricut Craft Room.  So today I thought I would feature a vinyl project made WITHOUT the use of a cricut.  I made this project with good old fashioned scissors and using a bowl I found at Dollar Tree for $1.

Isn't this cute?  Dollar Tree has a bunch of fall colored ceramic mugs, plates, and bowls which are perfect for decorating with vinyl.  I drew a pumpkin face on the back of my black vinyl, cut it out with scissors, and rubbed it on.  It was about a 2 minute craft project and super cheap!  I think my daughter will really enjoy eating her cereal out of this bowl.  I'd recommend hand washing anything you make with vinyl.  I've heard some people have run things through the dishwasher on the top rack, but I'd prefer to not find out what happens if things go wrong.

If you'd like to win a $25 gift card to Expressions Vinyl so you can make your own fun vinyl projects, enter using the Rafflecopter widget below.  Keep coming back this week for more vinyl projects and chances to win!

Vinyl Monogrammed Pom Pom Ornament + Vinyl GIVEAWAY!

This week on Binge Crafter I am giving away a $25 gift card for Expressions Vinyl.  Expressions Vinyl has incredibly affordable vinyl that you can use with your Cricut or other die cutters to make beautiful home decor projects.  Today's project I made with my 2 1/2 year old daughter.  It is a monogrammed pom pom ornament for the Christmas tree.  I made this using a $1 plastic ornament from the craft store and pom poms from Dollar Tree, so the total cost (plus a couple of cents for the vinyl I used) was only $2.  Wouldn't these make cute gifts for the kids?  Since they are plastic ornaments they are very toddler friendly.  I plan on having my daughter make these for all of her cousins this year as well.  They're a great project she can help with since all they require is stuffing pom poms into the top of the ornament and adding the vinyl sticker.  The J was made using Cricut Alphabet, which comes with the Cricut Expression 2.

Would you like to win a $25 gift card to Expressions Vinyl?  $25 will get you a TON of vinyl to keep you busy making crafts for the holidays.  Enter using the Rafflecopter widget below.  The winner will be announced next Monday.  Keep coming back this week for more chances to win and more great Vinyl projects.

Expressions Vinyl GIVEAWAY Week - Featuring a Soccer-Themed Vinyl Waterbottle

I am so excited to announce that this week on Binge Crafter I will be giving away a $25 gift card to Expressions Vinyl! As I've mentioned in a couple of previous posts, I was so excited to find Expresions Vinyl (recommended on the Cricut message board) because their vinyl is sooo reasonably priced compared to buying Cricut Vinyl in the major craft stores, PLUS it comes in so many colors and varieties. Instead of paying almost $10 for black or white vinyl, at Expressions Vinyl I was able to buy any color I wanted for only $1.89 a sheet!  (12"x24")   Naturally I bought every color and I'm getting a head start making all sorts of projects for Christmas gifts.

So this week to celebrate, I will be showcasing some of my newest vinyl projects. Tune in each day for a chance to win!  Can't wait for the giveaway?  Expressions Vinyl runs some great specials.  Check out their facebook page and sign up for their special offers email.

My first project is a waterbottle for my niece.  My niece is going to be the next Hope Solo, so I made her this soccer themed waterbottle.  I used the Cricut and Cricut Craft Room to make the letters, polka dots, and soccer balls.  The circles were made using Cricut Craft Room Basics, and the letters and soccer balls using the 3 Birds- Life's a Party cartridge.  I don't actually own the last one, it was a free preview a couple of weeks ago.  Each week on Thursday there is a different FREE cartridge available in Cricut Craft Room, as well as Cricut Craft Room basics.  (There are even two on there of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama in case you want to make some election themed cards or bulletin boards for school.)  By the way, the waterbottle was purchased from Dollar Tree.  Since the Cricut cartridges I used were free, the only additional cost I had was the cost of the vinyl, which as I've said is super cheap when you buy it through Expressions Vinyl.

How do you enter? Use the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck! The winner will be announced next Monday, September 24.

Watermelon Party Hat (and hairclips)

Pin It The daughter of one of our good friends just turned one and had a watermelon themed party.  Naturally I had to make her a watermelon party hat!

I also couldn't help but make her (and my daughter) some watermelon hair clips for the party.  For some reason my picture keeps loading sideways here, but you get the idea. You can buy one here for $3.

Monogrammed Cupcake Birthday Party Hat

Pin It I wanted to share today another party hat I recently made for an Etsy customer.  She wanted a monogrammed hat with a cupcake to celebrate her daughter's birthday, and she wanted all PINK!  I loved the way this turned out, so I wanted to list it in my shop in case others wanted a hat like it.  I'm having so much fun making all these different hats.  I'm not sure I would have come up with all of these different ideas on my own, and I'm loving making little one's birthdays special.

If you're interested in a party hat, they are only $12 for a customized, monogrammed or embellished hat.  Click here for the listing and you can see some of the others I've made.

Rainbow Party Hats

Pin It I've been so busy lately with Etsy orders and I love it!  This was one of my latest Etsy orders that I completed.  My buyer wanted a party hat for her daughter's first birthday as well as party hats in primary colors, pink, and turquoise for all of the party guests to wear.  Her intention was that these hats could be reused for any theme party, which I think is such a great idea I might make myself a set!  So I made the hat for her daughter, which you see in the center below, as well as 10 additional party hats.

Aren't these fun?  She contacted me yesterday and said she'd like 20 more!  I'm going to be a busy girl this week.  If you'd like some of your own, here is the listing on Etsy.  I love bright colors, so these were a lot of fun to make.  I'd be happy to make some for your next party too! :)

Vinyl Covered Sippy Cups

Pin It I am obsessed right now with vinyl!  I recently used it with my cricut for the first time and was surprised at how easy it was.  I used some to label my daughter's toy bins, and now I've used some to make these cute little sippy cups!

I used Cricut Craft Room for the letters and shapes.  Want the cut file?  Here it is!  Enjoy!

By the way, I just got my order from Expressions Vinyl and I'm so excited!  I ordered a bunch of different colors of vinyl and plan to make cute acrylic cups and coffee mugs for family and friends as holiday gifts.  Can't wait!  If you're looking for a bigger variety of vinyl than Cricut offers, at a MUCH lower price, check it out!  I've been happy with it so far!
